I currently live in Palm Desert, near Palm Springs, California, having left Seattle, Washington where I was born and raised. A large selection of crayons and plenty of drawing paper always kept me preoccupied as a kid. From crayons, to colored pencils and ink markers, I attempted my first oil paintings after discovering the neighborhood art store at the age of eleven.
For many years I explored acrylic painting and a whimsical style of landscape art influenced by years in Seattle, Palm Desert and a brief time in Hawaii. Always drawn to light and color, I began to explore and develop the more free-form style of abstract expressionism. I found the freer approach liberating and learned much about pigments, their behavior and interaction.
Whether utilizing acrylics, ink, enamel, metallic powders and iridescent metallic paints combined with paper, canvas, clear acrylic panels, glass and even metal in my abstract art, I have found so many ways to express my imagination, curiosity and creative energy and explore my love affair with color and light.
The end result, layers of paint, powders and clear glazes allow the viewer to look deep inside. As the light changes, the viewer experiences new and differing perspectives of the artwork. Viewers and collectors are often deeply moved by the depth, reflection and luminescence of these beautiful pieces of art.
From time to time I enjoy revisiting the more whimsical and playful side of art, continuing to explore different subjects, styles and techniques that interest or humor me.
With the playful art, I am able to express a sense of whimsy and humor exploring relaxing landscapes, vacation scenes, native patterns and even the silliness of words and language. Throwing caution to the wind, new playful artwork will be added to this website over time.

I am also a licensed real estate agent in California, Washington and California and currently work as a Realtor in the Greater Palm Springs area when I am not painting.
I maintain a home and studio in Palm Desert, California and when time allows, enjoy occasionally returning to Honolulu and Seattle for inspiration.
